1. THE MALENOVICE CASTLE (5 km)

[img=1] The Malenovice castle belongs among very few surviving examples of the medieval architecture in this area. The main building dates back to the first half of the 16th century, when Malenovice was the estate of the Tetour family from Tetov. In 1953, the entire estate came under the administration of the Museum of South-Eastern Moravia in Zlín. Exhibition space has been built here, where you can see archaeological collections and exhibition about orienteering, as well as the offices and depository ofthe museum.

[img=2] The ancient town, mentioned in chronicles in 1355, had undergone an economic boom in the 16th century. The economic boom was aided by railway between Břeclav - Přerov (1841). An important part of the industrial base here is the local sugar refinery (1836 - 1837). The town also has a famous horse stud farm (1886). The industrial base was expanded by machine works (1922), and the sugar refinery was replaced by Bata's chemical works called Fatra (1935). The town of Napajedla was given city status in 1898. A significant heritage site in town is the Baroque style chateau, designed by F. A. Grimm (1764 - 1769). Baroque parish church (1712) which has beautiful tombstones from the Renaissance era. The city square is dominated by a City Hall with high, slender tower (1904). Napajedla are the birthplace of pianist Rudolf Firkušný (1912). The chateau park abuts on the horse stud farm of the original horse stalls (tel.: +420 577 941 009, hrebcinnapajedla@atlas.cz ). The facility is used today for auctions of yearlings, which is attended by breeders from the world over. Today, the stud farm is the most important producer of race horses in the Czech Republic (around 60 colts a year).
3. SPYTIHNĚV - BAŤA'S CANAL (20 km)

[img=3] Baťa' s canal is a historie waterway on the Morava river, which is navigable to this day on various either rented, or own boats of all kinds. The canal is navigable from Spytihněv to Strážnice. The extension (all the way to points of interest C - South Petrov) of the navigable part is on the drawing boards. It will go through Huštěnovice, Uherské Hradiště, Kostelany n. Moravou, Uherský Ostroh, Veselí n. Moravou and Vnorovy. This feature is sought out by large number of tourists, who can sail through the local landscape and get to see its beauty from the comfort of their boats. For visitors (individuals and groups) there are several variants available, in combination with bicycle tourism. At the presenttime, only 43 km of the original Bata's canal is accessible and navigable, together with 17 km of adjoining river ways. The waterway connects the towns of Otrokovice and Strážnice, where there are 10 locks between them.

An important pilgrimage site, linked to the Great Moravian Empire and the Cyril and Methodius' tradition. Velehrad proper has an area with a basilica and lapidary (rock and stone collection), which is one of the best preserved religious structures in Moravia. The early medieval cloister of the Cistercian Order, was founded in 1205 and went through a number of changes. The present cloister, together with the Ascension of the Virgin Mary Church, forms a va st complex of Romanesque - Gothic style buildings. The local wine cellars have been attracting visitors foryears.
5. THE BUCHLOVICE CHATEAU (35km)

he Baroque style in Buchlovice was built at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. It consists oftwo facing semi-circular buildings with rich décor, built in the Italian villa style. A unique terrace gardens in French style form an integral partofthe complex, togetherwith English style park, where you can see rare, old trees.

The castle dominates one of the highest hilltops in the Chřiby Range above the town of Buchlovice. It belongs among the oldest medieval castles in Moravia. It was built to protect the trade route leading through the Chřiby Range and represents a unique example of medieval fortification technology. Later on, it had became a seat for administration of royal forest lands and the home of the forest ranger. The castle was never conquered. The site has a number of protected heritage trees - summer oak - which is approximately 300 years old. It was treated and restored in 1992 (Iocated south of the castle, near the parking on the main route) and another oak tree, approximately 200 years old (north west from the castle).



7. THE BRDO LOOK-OUT TOWER ( 41 km)

This stone look-out tower, 24 meters high, was built in 2004 at the highest peak of the Chřiby Range (the Brdo Hill 587 m) from sandstone. It is most Iikely the only stone structure, with glassed-in top observation level and it is constructed in an unusual teardrop shape. The project was prepared by architect Svatopluk Sládeček. The individual levels of the look-out tower are used at times as exhibition space. If you climb to the highest level, you can see on clear days not on ly the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, Jeseníky, Beskydy, the Vsetínské Hills, White and Low Carpathian Hills, but on occasion even the Little Fatra Hills, and exceptionallythe Roháče Range and the Alps.
8. ARCHEOSKANZEN MODRÁ (31 km)

[img=2] This archaeological outdoor museum in Modrá can be found in the location of the original Great Moravian Empire settlement, in close proximity of Velehrad. It represents an idea I look of an ancient Slavic fortified settlement dating back to the Great Moravian Empire (9th century). It comprises of structures, whose below-ground sections correspond with true archaeological finds. The above ground parts design, is a pure guess, but it is nevertheless based on specific archaeological finds. The outdoor
museum of the settlement is divided into functional units and areas. The first one represents fortifications, with an entry gates and guard towers. This is joined by the commercial and business area and this one is gradually changing to the administrative powers section. Only the religious spiritual section is somewhat to the side. The outdoor museum is closed off by the craftsmen section with information centre and support.

[img=3] The Royal City Uherské Hradiště was founded by Přemysl Otakar II. ln 1257 with the aim of protecting the south-eastern frontier of the Czech Kingdorn against destructive raids of neighbouring tribes. The city has been the natural centre of Moravian Slovakia since time immemorial. It is a home to a number of gothic fortifications ruins. The important historical points are the gothic style city hall, furtherthe church of Francis Xavier, the Annunciation ofthe Virgin Mary which is a part of the Franciscan cloister, the Moravian Slovak museum and gallery, theatre and the Iike. A novelty among them is the wine path. There is a Summer Film School that takes place here annually. The immediate vicinity of Uherské Hradiště is the Staré Město (Information centre, www.mujweb.cz/www/ticinfo , ticinfo@email.cz , tel.: +420 583 239 134). Local finds from the Great Moravian Empire (9th century) puts this place among the most important archaeological sites in the Czech Republic. The Old Slavic Settlement dates to the 9th and 10th centuries. The Great Moravian Memorial - an exhibition of archaeological and architectural finds from the Great Moravian Empire - presents jewellery, arms and weapons, tools and ceramics. The Church of St. Michael with cemetery chapel (first half ofthe 13th century) can also be found here.



10. OSTROŽSKÁ NOVÁ VES (36 km)

This town is renown for its sulphur baths ( www.laznenovaves.cz , tel.: +420 572 437 200, laznenovaves@laznenovaves.cz ),and highly sought out lakes, which are used for recreation, water sports and fishing.

Another important city in the Moravian Slovakia's region is the town of Uherský Brod, which is famous, first of all, for being the birthplace of one J. A. Comenius, who was born here. The museum is located in a renaissance style chateau, dating back to the fírst half of the 16th century, remodelled in the second half of the 17th century. Vou will find here other important historical sites, such as the Dominican Abbey - initially a gothic style abbey church, pilgrimage site, the Black Madonna and the so called Lords' House. Uherský Brod is famous for its traditional beer brewing, which dates back to 1614, when the town brewerywas built (the Janáček Brewery today).
12. BOJKOVICE (40 km)

The majority of the Bojkovice territory is located in a natural preserve of White Carpathian Mountain Range.
Surrounding castles, including Nový Světlov (tel.: +420 572 641 440, http://hrady.dejiny.cz/novy_svetlov/ ) were built as fortification against neighbouring marauding tribes. With the exception of the Nový Světlov Chateau, all the castles have
disappeared. Besides their defensive nature, these castles served as signalling and communications points. In case of an attack or imminent raid, they would send and receive light warning signals into the interior, where they warned about the impending arrival of marauders. Even the name "Světlov" most likely originates in the warning fires, which were lit to warn. ("Světlo = light, transl.) The castle's look had earned it the moniker "the Moravian - Slovakian Miramare." The public may visit an exhibition THE MUSEUMS OF THE BOJKOVSKO REGION between April and September.

The spa tradition in Luhačovice dates back to the 17th century. The city is a chockfull of Art Nouveau buildings by architect Dušan Jurkovič, inspired by regional, Wallachian folk architecture. The oldest among them is a threewing Baroque style chateau (1738). The spa centre has a Baroque style chapel, then Hotel Společenský dům (1935). The colonnade, the Brussels Fountain and others are later additions. The ethos of the town is complemented by residential villas' neighbourhoods called Pražská and Bílá. The Villa Lipová houses a museum expositions. The Luhačovice Spas have 15 wells with water containing combination of trace elements made of carbon, chloride and sulphur. Every hour, the wells produce 15 thousand litres of mineral water, rich in minerals, such as sodium, calcium, magnesium, chlorine, bromine, iodine, carbonated water and water soluble carbon oxide. The temperature of the waters is between 10 - 12 o C. The most famous named wells, which are on many occasions the aim of the spa guests daily callisthenics, are the Vincentka, Aloiska and Ottovka Wells and the wells of Dr. Šťastný and the St. Joseph Well. The spa treats mostly diseases of the digestive tract, diabetes and the respiratory system.
