The city of Otrokovice is situated on the border of three regions: Valašsko (further on ly Wallachia), Slovácko (Moravian Slovakia) and Haná - so that means that the characteristics of the locals are a blend of the ponderous nature of the Haná folk, combined with the Wallachian hard work ethic and the (in)famous Moravian Slovak temper. The first mention of the region in chronicles is from 1141 AD. The importance of the municipality had increa-sed in 1899 when the rail line Otrokovice-Zlín-Vizovice had opened. It comprises the erstwhile viliages of Otrokovice and Kvítkovice. Otrokovice is the most important commercial and transportation hub of the Zlín's district. The most significant object of modem architecture is the Art Deco style "Společenský dům" (1936) and recently built parish church (1995).

For centuries, the city was an important commercial and administrative centre of the Olomouc's bishopric. The city brims with historical monuments, cultural traditions of music and educational institutions and is rightfully called the "Athens of the Haná Region". The true historic core of Kroměříž is the municipal historic park. The Archbishop's chateau is a real gem, with beautifully decorated rooms and rare artistic collections. Historical gardens make a significant part ofthe chateau complex. Next to the chateau are the English-style gardens, full of exotic trees and number of Romance style structures and water systems. The flower gardens are the proud work of Italian architects and you can see the flower omaments, fountains, arcades, as well as you're your way through the garden maze. The wine lover will be pleasantly surprised by the Archbishop's wine cellars with tradition of making sacramental wine for hundreds of years. The beauty of the city is complemented by a number of churches.
3. THE CHROPYNĚ CHATEAU (36 km)

The Chropyně chateau is a simple two-story building with numerous windows in stone portals. The building is covered by bright red roof, dominated by tall, slender tower. The front part of the only chateau's wing is a short arcade with iron wrought grill covered water well near-by. The site of the renaissance chateau, built around 1615 stands in place of an ancient fort. The rooms of the Chropyně chateau, house a rich collection of arms in the Knighťs Hall, together with collection of pewter dishes, a room with the table of Haná's region King Ječmínek, or ornately carved celling with depiction of the former masters of Chropyně.

The city is first mentioned chronicles in 1141; in the 13th and 14th centuries it was a town and received its city grant in the 16th century. At that time, the city was an important commercial centre with both the (Protestant) Czech Brothers and Lutheran schools. The ancient Jewish synagogue from the 16th century, together with the Jewish cemetery are important heritage historical sites. Another significant historical structure is the early Baroque-style chateau designed by F. Luchese, surrounded by beautiful and valuable park. The Baroque cathedral from the beginning of the 18th century has rare interior décor (the Black Chapel among others). Holešov is the birthplace of composer F. X. Richter, historian J. A. Hanke, historian V. Groh, archaeologist J. Bóhm, music critic M. Očadlík and others.

This city - Bystřice pod Hostýnem is situated at the foothills of the Hostýn hills at 308 meters above sea level. The first written mention in chronicles dates from 1368. This town is famous for its renaissance style chateau, a parish church of sv. Jiljí (St. Giles) and the Loudonský cemetery. Bystřice pod Hostýnem is one of the gates to the Wallachian region. The many trails leading to the legendary pilgrimage site of Hostýn and the surrounding Hostýn hills, start here. The trails are teeming with tourists at any season ofthe year.
Saint Hostýn a pilgrimage site with Baroque style cathedral has been consecrated to the Virgin Mary (1721-1748), who, according to the local legend, had protected the local population against the marauding Tartars in 1244. Other important structures are the cloister, hotel for pilgrims and the Jan Sarkander chapel the Water chapel. Other significant historical sites on top of the Hostýn Hill is the Way of the Cross, built by architect Dušan Jurkovič, a stone look-out tower and a collection of protected, ancient trees. This dominant of the Hostýn hills is the source of one ofthe corner stones for the National Theatre in Prague.

The city is the gateway to the Beskydy Hills, but also to the Vsetínské Hills. It has a municipal protected heritage park with 47 original burgher's houses, of which No. 118 is the most valuable, and was first mentioned in written records in 1598. Among its significant heritage sites are the Kinski Chateau (1730), the Žerotín Chateau (1538), and a parish church of Ascension of the Virgin Mary (13th century), the church of Holy Trinity (18th century), Moravian Tapestry Manufacture (1898) the Museum of Wallachian Scary Spooks (2002). There is also an instructional path of Jan Karafiát (14 km).

The city is situated at the foot ofthe sacred Radhošť mountain, which is an important tourist centre. It is famous for its prime European outdoor museum (1925 AD), which comprises of more than 60 heritage folk art structures from Wallachia.
